| WHAT
IS PILATES? |
|
Originally
developed in the 1920s by physical trainer Joseph Pilates,
it is an exercise system focused on improving flexibility
and strength for the whole body, without building bulk.
Pilates focuses on stabilising and strengthening the
core of the body (the lower back and abdomen), and these
core muscle support the body during all exercises. This
principle makes Pilates extremely functional. Pilates
is movement based on quality not quantity.
Breathing, and correct posture and alignment are all
important in Pilates where the focus is on fewer repetitions
and more precise movements using correct control and
form.
Pilates is not only an exercise regime, but also a series
of controlled movements engaging both body and mind.
Because your mind is required to engage with your body
to perform the movements correctly, you will experience
a new awareness of muscle function and control.
In order to gain maximum benefits from Pilates it is
best done, initially at least, as a progressive course.
This enables the student to understand and perform the
basic fundamental principles of Pilates before progressing
onto harder exercises. |

| ABOUT
OUR CLASSES |
|
|
Revitalise prides itself on offering small group, progressive
pilates courses with a high level of teacher interaction.
We limit our classes to a maximum of 8 to ensure you
get the attention you require throughout your class.
Our highly trained and experienced pilates specialists
are either Stott, Body Control or Pilates Foundation
trained. We offer over 20 classes each week, both daytime
and evening. We offer a range of levels, starting at
Introductory, then level 1, level 2 and level 3 courses.
This allows you to progress at your own pace and you
can be reassured that you will be in a class of students
who are of a similar level to you.
We also have 2 specific classes each week for pregnant
women. We incorporate small pieces of equipment into
our matwork classes including flex bands, foam rollers,
fitness circles, over balls and toning balls. Yoga mats
and blocks are also provided.
All of our classes are run as 6 week courses. for those
participants who are unable to commit to the same time
each week, you can attend a 1 day Introductory workshop.
Successful completion of this will allow you to attend
a level 1 class long as they are not fully booked.
Please see our studio timetable
for class times and details'
In some cases, it may be preferable to do a series of
one on one sessions before entering group classes. Your
teacher can advise you on this.
Pilates courses at Revitalise are very popular and we
strongly recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

| TESTIMONIALS |

Below
are written testimonials from some of our clients, copied
word for word.......... "I have tried many
pilates classes over the years but never felt I was given
enough guidance to hold the positions correctly and worried
I would damage my spine.
My first class with Clare was completely different - she
explained clearly, demonstrated well and corrected mistakes
sympathetically, so you still feel encouraged to carry
on - Revitalise is EXCELLENT!!" Maggie Poet, retired
head teacher "I started pilates at Revitalise
14 months ago to help a recurrent back problem I have
suffered with for 16 years. The last year has been the
best my back has been for 16 years - I wish I had started
years ago."
Stuart Morgan, Civil Engineer "Clare's
instruction is clear and thorough. I know if my position
needs correctly Clare will spot it and help me get it
right. The exercises are varied but I always feel I have
worked hard and had a good stretch. With 2 young children
it is my time to focus on something completely different.
It's brilliant to find an exercise that has helped me
shed baby weight, makes me stronger, gives me a better
posture and is also relaxing. I wouldn't do it anywhere
else." Hannah Barratt. Proud mother of 2 sons
aged 7 months and 2 and a half "Pilates
at Revitalise is one of my favourite hours of the week!
It has helped my lower back problems following major surgery
and pregnancy which chiropractic treatment treatment was
unable to help. Classes at Revitalise are excellent' Elise
